The leaves are all starting to change and the mornings are getting quite chilly - Fall is definitely here. And we're a little bit closer to being residents of Pakenham. Our house now has a roof! We've spent our summer visiting our building site at least once or twice a week to survey progress. Things were quite slow-going for a while there, but recently things have really sped up. Our contractor told me today that his goal is still to have us in by Christmas. Fingers crossed!
On our trips through the village, I feel like I'm starting to get a feel for the place. Nicholson's provides us with cold beer for our walk-through tours of the house with friends; Hudson's Corn is delicious, as are the fries from the chip stand at the bridge; and the General Store coffee is very very good for early morning site meetings with contractors.
We've met a few of our neighbours on Davison Crescent, but of course I'm terrible at remembering names. Everyone's been very nice. I just hope they aren't horrified by our house! It's closer to the road than I'd imagined although now that it has a roof on top, it doesn't look as monstrous I hope.
My aim on my next visit to the General Store is to work up my courage to ask if they know what they're building at the Golf Course!
